InKInk & Key Download Explore
The paperwork

The legal pages, in plain English.

Three short policies — privacy · terms · refunds — and the full licence agreement. The wording gets an attorney's pass before launch; the promises won't change.

Privacy policy

The app. Your files and notes stay on your computer. Ink & Key ships with its internet switch off — and that's enforced in code and checked by our tests, not by policy. If you turn on sync, your writing travels only where you point it — between your own devices over your own Wi-Fi, or through a cloud folder you already own. The full explanation lives on the proof page.

Your licence. When you check for updates or download a model, the app sends your licence key, a random device ID and the app version — never your files or notes. We use them to confirm your subscription, to keep each licence to five devices, and to see which versions are in use. We record the country a check comes from, never your IP address. Check records are kept for 24 months, then reduced to monthly totals.

Buying. Paddle, our merchant of record, handles the payment. We receive your name and email address from Paddle so we can send your licence key; we never see your card details. Three other companies handle that key on our behalf: Cloudflare runs this website, the licence check and the download page; Resend sends the key email; and Kit keeps the launch list, only if you signed up for it. Download records are deleted after 90 days, and your name and email are removed from our licence records 24 months after a subscription ends.

The Annex. The Annex is the one place where sharing happens, and it happens on purpose: whatever you put there is read by the AI you point at it. That's the trade — and it's the point of the Annex, just as not having to share anything else is the point of the rest of the app. Ink & Key itself sends none of it anywhere; it only writes copies into that folder on your own disk, and you can take anything back out.

This website. We use privacy-first analytics that set no cookies, store nothing on your device, and cannot identify you or follow you to other sites — we see page counts, referrers and rough locations, never people. Our web host also writes ordinary server logs (a timestamp, a page, an IP address), kept briefly for security. We run no advertising trackers, and we sell nothing to anyone.

The launch list. If you join it, we store your email address, who sent you (if you tell us), and when you joined — on our own list, used only to write to you about Ink & Key. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes you from the list.

Support email. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you. Diagnostics zips contain logs only — never your notes, files, or key — and are deleted once your issue is closed.

Terms

Who you're buying from. Ink & Key is made and sold by VMG Solutions, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company. Write to us at support@inkandkey.app.

What you buy. One license for one person: $60 a year. Each year includes every update we ship — new features, fixes, and upgrades to the models themselves — and support. If you choose not to renew, the app keeps working as it is, offline, but it is no longer supported: no updates, no fixes, and no promise that it keeps running after future changes to Windows. Your files are ordinary files on your own disk and stay readable either way.

What's yours. Everything you put in your Library. Your notes and files are ordinary files on your own disk; we never hold a copy, and we cannot read an encrypted Library — only your key opens it, and if you lose both the machine and the recovery code, nobody can help, including us.

What's ours. The software itself. One license is for one person, on up to five of your own devices — but it is not for sharing: no resale of keys, no team use on a single license.

The plain-dealing clause. We sell software, not promises of perfection. If it breaks, we fix it.

Refund policy

14 days to change your mind.

You can get a full refund of any charge within 14 days of that charge. That covers your first purchase and every annual renewal. Request it through Paddle, our merchant of record, at paddle.net, or by emailing support@inkandkey.app.

Refunds are full refunds only, never partial. When a charge is refunded, your licence ends and the app moves to Unsupported mode: no updates and no AI model downloads.

Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep access until the end of the term you paid for. If you cancel after the 14-day window, the current term is not refunded.

If you stop renewing, or take a refund, nothing is taken away: your Library stays on your disk as ordinary files, readable with or without us.

End user licence agreement

The agreement you accept when you install Ink & Key. The sections above are the plain-English summary; this is the full text.

Effective November 1, 2026.

1. Agreement and parties

1.1 This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is between you and VMG Solutions, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company doing business as Ink and Key ("we", "us"). It governs your use of the Ink & Key desktop application, its updates, and any AI models we make available for download (together, the "Software").

1.2 You accept this Agreement by installing, activating, or using the Software. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.

1.3 You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to accept this Agreement. If you accept on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

1.4 Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle") is our authorized reseller and merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment under its own Buyer Terms. This Agreement governs the license to the Software.

2. License grant and restrictions

2.1 Grant. While your subscription is active, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use the Software on up to five (5) active devices you own or control, for use by you alone. A device counts as active if it has checked your license in the previous 90 days; a device that has not checked in for 90 days stops counting toward the limit. If you reach the limit, the Software will not receive updates or download AI models on an additional device until a slot is free. Contact support@inkandkey.app and we will free a slot for a device you no longer use. A subscription covers one person and may not be shared.

2.2 Versions you keep. The license to any version of the Software you installed during an active subscription continues after the subscription ends, subject to Section 4 (Unsupported mode) and Section 10 (Termination).

2.3 Restrictions. You may not:

2.4 Reserved rights. We reserve all rights not expressly granted in this Agreement.

3. Subscription and billing

3.1 Term. Your subscription runs for one year from the date of purchase.

3.2 Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for successive one-year terms. Paddle charges your payment method at the then-current price on each renewal date unless you cancel before that date. By subscribing, you authorize these recurring charges.

3.3 Cancellation. You may cancel at any time through the Paddle buyer portal, linked in your subscription confirmation email, or by contacting support@inkandkey.app. Cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of your current paid term. You keep full access until then.

3.4 Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Paddle may retry it. Your subscription stays active while Paddle reports it as active or past due. If Paddle cancels it after unsuccessful retries, your subscription ends.

3.5 Price and plan changes. We may change prices or offer different billing periods, including monthly plans. We will notify you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your renewal. Changes never affect a term you have already paid for.

3.6 Taxes. Paddle calculates and collects applicable sales tax and VAT.

4. License checks and Unsupported mode

4.1 License checks. When the Software checks for updates or downloads an AI model, it sends your license key, a random identifier the Software creates for that device, and the installed app version to our servers to confirm your subscription is active and to apply the device limit in Section 2.1. It sends none of your files, notes, or other content. Our Privacy Policy describes what we receive and keep.

4.2 Unsupported mode. When your subscription ends, the Software enters Unsupported mode. In Unsupported mode:

4.3 Your risk. Software that no longer receives security fixes becomes more exposed to vulnerabilities over time. You use the Software in Unsupported mode at your own risk.

4.4 Reactivation. Renewing your subscription ends Unsupported mode the next time the Software checks your license.

5. Refunds

5.1 You can get a full refund of any payment, including your first purchase and every renewal, if you ask within 14 days of that charge. Request it through Paddle at paddle.net, or by emailing support@inkandkey.app. We give full refunds only, not partial ones. When a payment is refunded, your subscription ends and the Software enters Unsupported mode (Section 4.2). This does not limit any refund right that applicable law gives you.

5.2 Consumers in the EU, UK, and similar jurisdictions. By completing your purchase, you request immediate access to the Software and acknowledge that you lose your statutory right of withdrawal once you start downloading or using the Software. This does not affect any withdrawal right that applicable law gives you on a renewal.

5.3 Cancelling your subscription stops future renewals, and you keep access until the end of the term you paid for. Outside the 14-day window in Section 5.1, cancelling stops future charges but does not refund the current term.

6. Complimentary licenses

6.1 Complimentary licenses. We may issue license keys at no charge, for example to team members, partners, or reviewers. A complimentary license is subject to this Agreement, lasts for the period we set when we issue it, and may be revoked by us at any time.

7. Your content, AI output, and third-party components

7.1 Your content. Your files, notes, and other content stay on your devices. We do not receive, store, or have access to them. You are responsible for backing them up.

7.2 AI output. The Software includes AI features that run locally on your device. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. Review it before you rely on it. It is not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.

7.3 Third-party AI models. AI models available through the Software are made by third parties and licensed under their own terms, which we list in the Third-Party Notices included with the Software. By downloading or using a model, you agree to its license.

7.4 Open-source components. The Software includes open-source components licensed under their own terms. Those licenses govern those components and are listed in the Third-Party Notices. Nothing in this Agreement limits your rights under them.

8. Ownership and feedback

8.1 The Software is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors own the Software and all intellectual property in it.

8.2 If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

9.1 Disclaimer. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT IT WILL PREVENT DATA LOSS.

9.2 Limitation of liability. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM UNDER THIS AGREEMENT IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

9.3 Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions or limits. Where that is so, they apply only to the extent the law allows.

10. Termination, governing law, and general terms

10.1 Termination. This Agreement ends automatically if you materially breach it, including by sharing your license key or bypassing license checks. On termination you must stop using and uninstall the Software. Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10 survive.

10.2 Governing law. The laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia govern this Agreement, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Prince William County, Virginia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.

10.3 Export. You may not use or export the Software in violation of U.S. export control or sanctions laws.

10.4 Changes to this Agreement. We may update this Agreement. We will give notice of material changes in the Software or by email. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the update.

10.5 Entire agreement. This Agreement, together with our Privacy Policy, is the entire agreement about the Software. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
